Fun and Games with Strawberry Shortcake

Strawberryland board game

In 1992, Roseart released a Strawberry Shortcake game called "Strawberryland."   The interesting thing about this game is that while there were no animals that came with the dolls, the animals are part of the game.  There is custard the cat, Frappe the frog, Teatime Turtle, Soufflé the Skunk, and Marmalade the butterfly on the box and in the game plus Cheesecake the Mouse in the game.  Some of these animals' original dolls were not produced at all in the 1990's while other dolls that were produced are missing the animal they originally came with.  Typically the board game goes for $8.00-$15.00 in mint condition.

PUZZLES

There were 2 box puzzles made in 1992.   One shows Strawberry Shortcake with a large ice cream cone and the other shows Strawberry and Blueberry at a party.   These puzzles have 100 pieces and when put together they are 11 1/2 inces by 16 1/4 inches.  They were made by Roseart and cost $2.99 originally.  Today I see them selling for $3.00-5.00.  Also some of the boxes have a sticker that says "Free! toy surprise inside"  From what I have heard, the free toy is a crackerjack type toy, typically a cheap plastic bracelet.

do not steal

Here are the  puzzles from my collection put together as well as the boxes they came in.

There are six known 1992 "Junior Frame Tray Jigsaw puzzles" (the kind that were meant for younger children to put together).  Each puzzle has 15 large pieces.  They were made by Holdson Products and released in New Zealand.   Some of these puzzles are difficult to find.   They can cost between $8-$20.

The bottom three are the most difficult to find.

Colorforms

In 1992, Roseart produced what you and I would call "Colorforms."  However here they are called "Presto Magix playset"  According the box, "set contains adventure background with colorful plastic stick-ons that stick n lift like magic"  These are for ages 3 and up and are non-toxic.  The going rate for the presto Magix playset is $8.00-$10.00

Coming soon to this spot:  A page from a 1992 cataloge that shows a Presto Magix set different than the one seen here!

Here is the the front of the "presto magix" box

And here is the side of the box.

The 6 main girls (Strawberry, Lemon, Lime, Raspberry, Orange and Blueberry) are all there to play with.  With the exception of Blueberry, they are in the exact same poses as they are for the board game.  Also included are some of the pets!  There is Cheesecake the mouse, Frappe the frog, Custard the cat and Luckybug.  There is a radio and various fruit pieces as well.

Coloring Books

In 1992, several Strawberry Shortcake coloring books were released.  They were two types, "Flip n Fun Activity Pad" and "Color and Activity Book"  Each book had a picture on the front that was the same as the play stages.  The books included dot to dots, word games, hidden pictures, fill-ins, scrambled words, word searches and counting.  The books were produced by Honey Bear books for Modern Publishing.  The cover illustrations were by Fran Kariotakis and the inside illustrations were by Pattie Silver-Thompson.  The names of the  coloring books were " "Berry Delightful" "Rock n Berry Roll" "Berry Best Friends" and  "Cute as a Berry.  The coloring books retailed for .99 cents.  The names of the two "Flip n Fun Activity pad" were "Berry Magic" and  "Berry Special fun"  They retailed for $2.95 each, but as you can see from this ad in one of the books,  there was a mail away off to get four books for $4.50.

Each coloring and activity book has this on the back:
From Strawberryland to your land, Strawberry Shortcake is the berry best friend a little girl could ever have.  So let the berry fun times roll as you color and solve each berry special page with Strawberry Shortcake and her friends--Orange Blossom, Raspberry Tart, Blueberry Muffin, Lemon Meringue and Lime Chiffon!
